Joe August's A Break in the Clouds

From notebooks of random thoughts and clusters of sound bites in various mediums, eventually some  organization came peeking through.  By the time I raised my eyes, this grouping of songs was pieced together telling several short stories within one.  I sing about finally waking up, examine the complexity of change, make empty promises with myself, seek immediate gratification, tell a tale of bad timing, and struggle with setting myself free.  I’m actually amazed how it all seems to string together, stays in tune with nature, and does so within a one-day rotation.

These guys you see pictured below are phenomenal musicians and my true friends.  Thank you Terry, Mike and Dave for your dedication, your friendship, and enormous talent.

To my wife Susan who’s been hearing me say for years that I just wanted to get all those notes and sound bites organized, thank you for encouraging me to do so, and for standing with me through it.  Every man and musician should have a supporting partner like I have who keeps pushing for me and never asks any questions about where all the hours go.

All songs were written and produced by Joe August, except Remedy which was written by my good friend Greg Amici.  All songs were recorded and mixed by Michael Mulieri and Jim Sabella at Sabella Studios in Roslyn, NY (www.sabellastudios.com).  For New Routine and Change My Mind, we recorded bass and drums at Sabella and engineered all remaining tracks at my home studio.
